People typically come to Vegas for a multitude of reasons. The top reason is typically to visit the iconic Las Vegas Strip, providing non-stop entertainment and numerous shopping and dining options.

But what if you are someone who isn’t a fan of the fast-paced glitz and glamour lifestyle? There are so many areas and activities that Vegas has to offer, outside of the Las Vegas Strip. For those who enjoy camping, hiking, yoga and many more outdoor activities, there are various options for you to choose from for finding your dream home in Las Vegas. Here are some of the top places you can choose from to live for those seeking to live the outdoorsy lifestyle:

Red Rock is one of the most popular hiking hotspots in Las Vegas, along with being home to some of the most luxurious homes in Las Vegas. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is home to 56 hiking trails and just minutes from the Red Rock Hotel and Casino. Some of the most popular trails in the conservation area include Moenkopi Loop, Calico Hills, Calico Tanks, Turtlehead Peak and Keystone Thrust. One of the most popular Red Rock neighborhoods located in close proximity to the conservation area is the Red Rock Country Club. Homes in the Red Rock Country Club are considered to be perfect for those looking to spend top dollar on their dream home. The Country Club is also home to numerous amenities for club members and residents. Although Red Rock is located in the Summerlin area, there are SO many more places for those who enjoy the outdoors to live in the Summerlin neighborhood. The residential neighborhoods are home to around 150 trails for residents, along with many park and recreational areas. For avid hikers, Summerlin Peak is considered one of the more advanced, popular trails in the area. Summerlin Peak is located on the Northwest side of town, near the La Madre Mountain Range. The peak is considered to be extremely steep, with no trail leading to the summit area (hence the reason it is considered more of an experienced hike). The hike is about five miles and 2000 ft in elevation. The peak is located near many popular high end neighborhoods, including Tournament Hills, The Ridges, as well as Queensridge.

When most people think of Henderson, the ever popular Green Valley Ranch area comes to mind. Although the Green Valley Ranch area is the location for many luxurious homes, there are many outdoor activities and trails for residents to take advantage of. A family friendly trail located near the Green Valley Ranch area is called Pittman Wash. Pittman Wash trails are broken up into increments of miles and half miles, which makes it the perfect place to bring the entire family together. For those wanting to venture out into the deeper “woods” of Henderson, Petroglyph Canyon in the Sloane Canyon National Park Conservation Area is the best scenic route for those looking to enjoy ancient petroglyphs and mountain views.

One of the most popular neighborhoods in the Whitney area are the Whitney Ranch homes. Whitney Ranch homes are comparable to that of Summerlin-style homes. For those seeking the feeling of luxury outside of the Las Vegas “glam”, Whitney is the perfect area to explore. The most popular recreational area in Whitney is the Clark County Wetlands Park - connecting to trails such as Coyote Howl Trail and Duck Creek Trailhead. The park includes trails for hikers and bikers of all levels, along with some that overlook the river. Those wanting to get an idea of what to expect in the Whitney area also have the option to take a virtual tour of the trails from the comfort of their own home.

Mt. Charleston

Located about 45 minutes outside Las Vegas, Mount Charleston is not only the perfect outdoor getaway, but the perfect place for those looking to live the idyllic “log cabin” lifestyle. Although considered more expensive than homes in the Las Vegas area, the scenery and various outdoor activities are unbeatable to anything that can be found in Las Vegas. There are 12 hiking trails, ranging in length from 3.7 to 31.4 miles! Mt. Charleston is also home to a lodge with a popular restaurant, hotel-style rooms, and also the option to rent cabins with family and friends.
